MoCA 1.1, an old spec w/ just a 50 MHz-wide channel, can only get up to around 150 Mbps but MoCA 2.0 and 2.5 can range from 400 Mbps up to full duplex GigE/1000 Mbps, depending on the gear used and how it's installed.īut if your going to run a new cable you might as well run Cat 6 EthernetīUT.if you do this you can’t use the coax cable to connect other MoCA devices in your house. The built-in MoCA WAN used by FiOS to make a coax WAN connection between an ONT and gateway uses MoCA 1.1 Band C, and specifically channel C4 (975-1025 MHz) whereas, most all (w/ few exceptions) retail MoCA adapters, which are compatible with OTA antenna and cable, operate in MoCA 1.1 Band D (1125-1525 MHz) or MoCA 2.0/2.5 Extended Band D (1125-1675 MHz). That would work, because the MoCA adapters use different frequencies and more bandwidth than what Verizon uses to normally connect the WAN interface from the ONT to the gateway.Įntirely correct. u/RoweDent created this awesome resource on network theory ![]() u/tht1kidd_ has created a suggestion post regarding information everyone needs to provide when asking a question about their network There have been some excellent guides written in this sub, and we're always looking for more!
